more???

Posting to hopefully rekindle the flame on this thread...I'm getting close to either buying another Benz or making mine go faster (or both, because I'm sure I would regret selling my "almost perfect" W124)...any interest in attempting to put together a "group buy" on a supercharger for the M103? any more input out there from the supercharger guys??? Bill

and...

BTW, it doesn't necessarilary have to be a Mossellman unit...but it does have to be from a tried and true manufacturer.

I had a Mosselman kit so I don't know if that's what you called a tried and true manufacturer? Anyway, the Mosselman kit I had was less than stellar and drove me to develop my own supercharger kit. I'm much happier with the custom kit. Don't rule-out your local hotrod machine shop. They should be able to produce a supercharger kit for you in no time.

Supercharging/turbo-charging is not rocket science. You basically have to tackle: plumbing, fuel, spark, and an intercooler if the boost is high. Don't rule out the smaller guys because they will tackle projects that the big guys will not. I wouldn't think Renntech or Kleeman is going to step-up to the plate and sell a supercharger/turbo system that costs more than the car is worth.

Hey Tump, not meaning to turn your own words against you but....aren't you dying the death of a thousand cuts? You keep spending money and in a couple of years you'll be asking yourself "who would want to spend $21,000 on a 18 year old non-collectible car?"

need2speed --

I agree -- sold the 1987 and bought a 1999 C43 AMG w/ an extended 100K miles Starmark bumper to bumper warranty. Great car!! Been having a blast modifying it, and racing unsuspecting hotshots on my local roads.

It wasn't "Tump" but "Bill '90 300E" that still wanted to supercharge the 300E.

I guess I'm guilty of the "death by a 1000 cuts" by doing the C36 powertrain and 500E suspension on the 1988 300TE wagon.

Neil...???

Neil, I'm confused here...I'm not concerned about putting more money into a car than I could possibly recoup by selling it (do you have me confused a previous poster or am I missing something here?)...I'm considering investing in a supercharger simply for more performance and enjoyment. As we all know here, it's pretty hard to get much more out of the M103, but I'd like to squeeze a little more out of a solid and strong example of a 1990 model car that I consider to be a "keeper"...I've recently been thinking about selling or trading and buying something else (another Benz) with more power, but the more I consider it, the less desire I actually have to part with this car...As a matter of fact, I would love to have this car twenty years down the road and watch heads turn as the "timeless" classic lines of the W124 rolls by (waxing poetic here)...Although I know it's by no means a new E55 that my attorney recently purchased (and let me play with for an afternoon...THANK YOU, GOD !!!), but it's a car that I will probably keep for a long time because I really enjoy it...I have friends that are absolutely astounded that this car is 14 years old, as the exterior, interior and performance levels still remain exceptional...In all honesty, I would probably be happy leaving it just as it is, but like most of us here, I wouldn't mind having just a little bit more (Neil, I know you understand)...Soooo, if there are any suggestions as to manufacturers (or DIY conversion) kits out there, the input would be appreciated.
