E55 and other reliability
Hi,
We've just had a small review of the latest big merc reliability in a French magazine. Frightening ! 4 cars were reviewed : sl55, cl55, ml320, e270 cdi, all new. The Sl 55 was every 800 kms (average) in the Workshop : electronic problems, windows not going up with the roof, airco not working, engine in limp mode etc.... the Cl55 (500hp !) had about the same problems plus...no more brake (wireless) at a speed of 25mph : the guy was in a fury. The ml 320 was doing some26/28 liters/100km, about 8miles/US gallon due to he engine management they couldn't fix, plus of course other electronic problems. The E270 cdi had airco problems and others (airco and radio for instance) and was regularly in limp mode : no more than 2200 rpm and 120km/h. Apparently Mercedes knows all this and blames Bosch and some other suppliers. Some people were fired in those company. I wonder what it is going to be to buy those cars in few years of time.... Alex

Interesting about the ML
When it first came out, they didn't convert the speedo/on-board computer properly, with the result it was measuring litres used and calculating as if it was gallons used, or something... Anyway, they read too low on MPG and there was a fix.
