I am rebuilding a 86 300 SL and refinishing the wood on center console and ashtray. what is the best way to remove the wood face on the ashtray.

I have a 86 300 SL Euro with 15 inch tires currently. What is the largest size tire I can put on without any modifications etc. Time to get new tires so I thought I would ask.
