I got some advice from a merc mechanic to use mobil 1 atf at my last filter change.

I thought it looked like the PS pump bracket had enough clearance in there when pump is removed to get at that bolt.. as it has to be done anyway.. i'll do it that way and report back if it worked...

Yea.. well change your oil filter and oil.. if it still does it, you likely have a problem of sludge. Maybe do a bandaid with some "moto flush" or marvel mystery oil.

no 2 ways about it. If it was a crack, it would flow both ways. Like the other guy said. Oil pressure is higher sends over oil but not water.

My 300e (mechanical fuel injection) i had a similar problem. Improved greatly with tune up. Still idled rough. Tweaked the idle mix and it is perfect.
