I'm not as sophisticated with the solder, but I ended up needing to replace the sensor. I know, $85 part, but on ebay you can get a used one for $25 if the solder doesn't work out.

Once you loosen the bolt, loosening belt tension takes a lot of turns. It's a long bolt...
