I drive a 81 240D 4spd, and quite frankly I don't think it could pull it self in a overdrive 5th gear. I quite enjoy being passed going up hill on the freeway. How else would I know who else is out...

Thank you for the advise, buy parts tab reveals 87 and up for a turbo 190D.

Is a 5 speed 85 190D likely a 4 cylinder turbo. Craig's list add does say, but boasts of 45 mpg. Selling party works nights and weekends. I e-mailed asking for vin # & engine serial #.

I'm trying to diagnose vehicle 750 miles away in order to decide on purchase. Is there any reason to doubt that the reason the cerpentine jumped off is due to cap screw comming out of fan and pulley...
