Since the last installer may have done something unusual. I felt to establish how much it was off may be signifigant before pulling. In otherwords it might be productive to find out where it is now...

No sense pulling the injection pump until you verify it is a later pump. If not certain things are done prior to removal. You will want to know how far it is out of time before pulling for example ...

I think you may be lucky. The 1985 I think has the mechanical stop built in the side of the pump. So you need the adapter to lock the pump for installation where it should be.
