Of course but air should show up with return line from the injection pump submerged in a container of fluid. Or eliminated as you suggested by direct fueling with a container as you suggest.

Sixto is right. It must be checked to make sure...

Sixto is right. It must be checked to make sure no valves clearances are pretty well closed up or tight. Not a valve adjustment unless the need is indicated. Maybe you already have?

Is your overflow line from the relief valve flowing at least some fuel at idle? With no obvious air in the fuel. If not assuming the relief valve opening point was checked or the relief valve...
