Regarding the valve I use, it's made out of brass. If I think about it, I'll snap a pic and post it. Also, I think 5 micron is plenty, I am only filtering to 10 and have not had any problems.

I don't even bother filtering the oil anymore, when I first started the WVO thing I tried every fltering method I could get my hands on, and they were all slow, messy, and not really effective. Now...
