I don't see a problem with used body panels so long as they're not already full of bondo. The shop that repaired my '96 E300 after the deer strike found a used fender and had hopes for a used hood...

I agree that, if the insurance people won't work with you, you should get the car fixed yourself. Look around for a shop that is willing to work with junkyard parts, even better if they'll let you...

As a fellow '95 E300 owner I share your pain. Glad at least you are OK but a shame there's now one less E300. Try to save it if possible.
