by jumping the wire to see if it engages do you mean running a connection from the + and - terminals on the battery to the seperate terminals located on the compressor base.

I used a side can clamp with the adapter that my 134 valve that i use on 134can tops and the connestion hose that attaches to th low side. Is this not right.
