could you be putting the thermostat in backwards? I know this sounds dumb but i think it is possible if i recall... It wouldn't open if the correct side of the thermostat didn't get hot... just...

Sorry ran out for a bit ... do you ahve a strap wrench ? that could hold the pulley or try tightening up the belts and use some wd40 or equiv on the bolts.... you don't need to take the radiator out...

Most likely yes.... I had a similar problem on my SD and it was due to no flow... In my case it was both the radiator and the pump.... the impeller had dissintigrated (broke up) to nothing and...

Won't leak if the impeller is broke or the shaft is broke.... Usually they leak when the seals/bearings go bad but if that happens there would still be flow.

Have you checked the Impeller on the water pump?...
