The difficulty of gluing the pot metal gear without gluing the parts that need to spin, led me to avoid the whole gluing process. A roughed up shaft worked fine in my case.

If you follow the directions on the dieselgiant link, it's a pretty simple repair. Isn't loctite a form of epoxy?

My mistake, it's been a while since I had mine...

My mistake, it's been a while since I had mine apart. I didn't use locktite on mine, just put some serious burrs on the shaft with a pair of vicegrips. It's held up for 40k miles.

No. There are write ups here explaining how to fix it. A plastic gear is slipping on the shaft. Shaft needs to be roughed up to stop the gear from slipping.

Odometer sticking on the 9's. Hard to notice. You have to keep a close eye on it when it comes to a 9.
