Can't you just take the existing metal portions of the lines to a hydraulic shop and have them install a loop between the two ends?

I don't think there are any o-rings in the system. At least there's not on 123's or 126's.

Those coolers are notoriously expensive. Perhaps one off a 123, 116 or 126 might fit. If so, finding one in a junkyard becomes much easier.

In my opinion it can be bypassed. If you don't want to bypass it and can't find an OE at a parts supplier or in a junkyard, you could use an aftermarket oil cooler.
