Yes, if there is a problem with the flywheel, those are much harder to come by than a bellhousing.

No the 240d transmission is not the same as far as I know. I assume it's a 5 spd in the 409d with a granny gear. I'm pretty sure a 5spd from a G-Wagon will fit. I'm also pretty sure its the same...

Actually it's not the transmission. It's the bellhousing. I believe those bellhousings are interchangeable between all 616 and 617 engines in cars, vans and G-wagons. Shouldn't be hard to find...

Some of those were built with automatics. If you look under motorhomes on mobile.de you can occasaionaly see automatic versions. I don't know which automatic they put in there.
