Got the seat out and pool-noodled it. Better, but not as happy with it as I had hoped. Some months back there was mention of a part number with pictures of a Mercedes piece that helped address this...

Fixed

Little center piece, pops out with fingernail. Really easy from there. Off to Target for pool noodles. Spring isn't broken, must just be weak.
