How do you know this wasn't the stock housing? Only late 84's supposedly had the 02, from what I was told. Look at Mercedes source too.

I posted it to get another opinion to see if anyone had seen this done before. Since posting I have found some other info pointing to this being rather odd.
The bolt I have is correct for my 01...

Im seeing the opposite of what you are saying in other posts after lots of searches. This is suppose to have ONE o-ring since it's an 01 housing. There's no upper groove, as you can see. Still, maybe...

I pulled the filter bolt to check to see if I need to order new O-rings and found this. I have an "01" filter housing on an 84 300SD.
This bolt has an alum. (I assume) washer AND a huge upper...
