Installing Hitch, Need Advise (1987 300D)

Has anyone ever installed a drawtite hitch # 24558 on a 1987 300D turbo?

Im having 1 installed on Friday and the shop says it fits 300E, 300CE and 260E. I wonder if the back end of those cars is different than my 300D ?

300e/300d= same car, different engine. the just must not like diesels around there, or choose to ignore them

Thanks, I called Drawtite and they said there was something different about 300D, maybe exhaust or something. Anwyays, they said it wouldnt fit but the guy at shop said he wants to try...guess we'll see on friday.

I just put a dalan- curt hitch on my 84 TD, and the muffler rattled against it- so I cut off the muffler(it was rusting thru) and added a 3" cherrybomb(shorter) and re-worked the exit from that, no rattle, and I cant really tell a difference in sound.
