300E Tire sizes.

Hi guys, question..What can I put on the 300E in terms of widest, low profile that is compatible with stock wheels and unmodified fenders. Currently have 215R65x15's Michelin. Any thoughts, suggestions appreciated.

Do search, but you're probably there (215 widest)60/15 would give you lower profile and still keep overall diameter. Could go 225/50/16 or 215/225/235? 45/17, but that would be a lot of tire to push w/a 300E

I've heard of 225 fitting without a fender roll, but I don't know if anything far beyond 215 is a good idea on the stock wheels. If you are going to run a 225 tire, I think 225/55R15 is the closest match to the OEM rolling radius. I wouldn't recommend sticking with the current 215/65's, if you're going to keep that width 215/60 is a much closer match.

To stay with a 15" wheel, go 215/60/15 for the most rubber and staying close to stock diameter, for 16" 225/50/16 with a fender roll (to be safe) and 225/45/17 for 17" wheels.

I recommend the 215/60/15 for a direct replacement. FIrestone Firehawk SH30s for $66 each in that size from TireRack. They are H-rated and wear great, offer great wet traction and handle nice. (And they won't blow up either like the other Firestones :-D )

If you want to spend a little more money, the Michelin Pilot XGT V-4's (UHPAS V-rated) also come in that size--if I recall correctly, about $120 each from Tire Rack???

If you want to spend a little more money, but not so much as $120/tire, a third option are the Dunlop SP5000's. V-rated, quiet, great wet traction and overall lateral grip, but only so-so turn-in and can sometimes get a little bit of wheelspin from them.

The Dunlops are Great too. Just that I didn't notice that much of a difference between then Dunlop SP Sport 5000 and the SH30s considering how much more the wear is on the Dunlops. But They do perform better. I agree, I just can' tsee spending doubl efor a tire, I would rather invest in a set that is a nice balance, pocket the money so next time I can upgrade. Just my philosophy. You pay for the Name. And I don't even like all Michelins either. Then again I don't like all MBs. Just almost all of the,

How are those Firehawk SH30's in the wet? We get a lot of the wet here in Seattle.
