thanks for posting the info. love this forum.
You mention "behind the glove box" -- do you have to remove the glove box or are those electronic boxes accessible from under the dash?

You need to remove the glove box. Very easily done. Just be careful when disconnecting the leads to the light.

Age of unit

The one in my '84 380SL had a date of 3/84 on it and was bad but must have been the original unit. The mechanic came up with a new looking used one dated 5/94 that works great. What a relief.

I wonder what model the 94 one came out off?
It is another alternative. Do you have the part number for the 94

Idle Control

It may just have been made by MB in 1994.

Yes, after I posted the message I thought that it could have been made at that time. How much did it cost you?

Idle Controller

I paid $200. installed and was lucky he had the part. If you look at this neat site http://northernresource.com/mercedes/107.htm he has a link there that has rebuilt units for $135.

It worked, I solder the joints on all joints I saw in the ICU and after the 2nd try it worked great. Make sure you use a mag glass and a fine tip soldering iron, touch every solder and watch it melt then let it cool off.

Now my idle is purfect

Idle problems

just read this thread...this is a great forum..I have similar problem with a '92 500 SL. Starts fine, then after reaching operating temp the tach runs up to 1100, put it in gear and back to 750. Dealer has had the car twice, replaced a coolant temp sensor, no results...anybody else have any ideas? Thanks guys
