Power steering hose cracked
I've had a '78 450 SL for about 15 years now. Been losing power steering fluid for a little while and found a good size crack in the high pressure hose linking the pump and the steering unit. Found the repacement part on line, and it seems pretty easy to get at, anything I need to be aware of before tryng to replace it and screwing up my steering? thanks for any input!

I replaced mine recently on my 380SE. Loosen the hose at the pump but don't remove entirely. You will need to use a hold wrench on the steering box end to break loose the hose. I made the mistake of completely taking off the hose at the pump and it twisted like a pretzel before I was able to get it loose at the box! I can't remember the wrench's sizes but you'll figure it out. Not a bad job and I think it is the same hose as my 380. BTW... I saw the that hose on E-Bay for 20 bucks less than I paid at FastLane.
