107 ,73 heat problem

hey
i got a 73 sl and my heater is only working on driver side
when i move the slides it will make a lot of ressistance and also make some craking sounds
i have taken the dashboard out but i can't see anything wrong on the outside of the heater box
so i am afraid i have too take it apart
that looks somewhat complicated
anyone in here ever had too deal with the same problem and found a solution

Trond:

I can't help you with your problem, unfortunately, but I just had the A/C evaporator and the heater core replaced at a shop on my 1992 SL500. The consensus seemed to be that the hardest part of the job was removing the dash to access the heater box and A/C evaporator.

How hard was removing the dash? Were you all the way down to the A/C evaporator?

removing the dash was a 3h jobb
what i am facing now is a big black box who seems rater complex
so i don't like the idea of ripping it apart
i dont think it is possible too take it out as one whole part
