manual lock down for hard top

I just purchased a 98 SL500. As expected, the owners manual is lost to where ever lost manuals go. The hard top is out of sequence. A Snap On diagnostic tool & mercedes program has been ordered. In the meantime, is there a way to manually lock down the back of the hard top. I found the release for the front and back. The front will latch from the console. I have read the back must be latched first, but how?

In the owners manual for my 1999 SL500 are the following instructions for attaching the hardtop:

1. Engage parking brake & turn key to position "2"
2. Lower roll bar.
3. Open doors.
4. Lower power antenna, turn key to position "0" & remove.
5. Lift hardtop over the attachment points & locating points.Guide the rear pins vertically into the rear attachment points ,then lower the roof onto the vehicle and locate the front locking pins.
6. Turn key to position "2" The indicator lamp in the soft top switch lights up. If the indicator lamp in the soft top switch blinks while activating the switch, the battery voltage may be insufficient-charge battery.
7. Slide soft top switch "FORWARD" -the hardtop switch should lock and the lamp in the switch should go out.

Hope this helps,

Make sure the windows are synced, that will not allow the top controls to work if they are not.
