Angry Door lock problems.

I'm not able to lock my doors etc with the key. Worked great when I first bought the car last year but since have quit. Does anyone out there have pictures and/or info on the vacumn lines? All the other vacumn componets seen to work OK. Thanks.

If you have the CD it is covered in 80-260.pdf.
If not this link might help. http://dieselgiant.com/mercedesmastervacuumswitchinstall.htm

Initial trouble shooting is to try the other door or trunk with the master key. If they work then you have either a bad switch or the link has come loose. If they do not work and you can hear the pump running then you have a leak.

Not sure what you mean by all the other components work.
The lock system only operates the door/trunk and fuel door locks.

Try 1-866-MBCLASSIC (622-5277) for the CD. Mine cost $25 2 years ago.

Since you have the CD you can go to the pdf directly. You will find the file 80-260.pdf under the PROGRAM\Chassis directory. If the vacumn pump does not turn on you might have a fuse problem.

My '82 380SL had a door problem or two when I bought it, and I fixed them all after some time... The passenger door vacuum lock wouldn't lock or unlock the passenger door from the driver's door command (key turn), and I found that the locking/unlocking rod from the lock mechanism to the vacuum pod unit had come unscrewed at the pod end. All the parts were in the door, so I just reassembled it with blue locktite and all was good again. HINT - I live in the Battle Ground area, and in our rainy NW weather, MAKE SURE that your protective plastic on the door is good as the brown pressed door panel will disintegrate if it isn't!

Thanks again. Looks like it's somewhat simple but time consuming project. Having some med problems now will get to the problem when things clear up. Ben

I had vacuum problem in trunk. disconnected and got in with a key, now key doesn't work, but still does on doors. in past a shop got in by drilling small hole behind license, and somehow releasing it with a probe. they said took 2 hrs and used a screwdriver. don't know as wouldn't let me watch. may have had special tool, and took 5 minutes? I have been trying a few min. each day, with no luck. has anybody ever had to do this, and what motion, or tool could I try?

Ok. Here we go again. I seem to have vacuum and the NEW key locks the trunk and passenger side door. It will turn to the left to the unlock position but not to the right to the lock position on the drivers door. These are new keys ordered from whoever through a dealer. Do you think that perhaps the lock itself is faulty, although it worked fine for a few months after I bought the car. Any ideas out there. Thanks everyone for the help so far.

I had a similar problem on my 81 300SD. Key would unlock passenger door and trunk but not the driver's door. I pulled the lockset out and a locksmith fixed the tumblers. No problem since; that was at least ten years ago.

I had the opposite problem last week. Key would lock driver's door but would not unlock it (worked in all other locks). Took the lockset to the the same locksmith. He put the key in, turned it back and forth and pronounced it in working order. I went home and looked inside the door. The plastic piece that is supposed to slip through (and pull) a flange had slipped out - partially because the plastic had gotten a bit worn and therefore shorter. I bent the flange over a bit, slipped the plastic piece back in and the key again unlocks the door.

Thanks tyl604. What you said sounds reasonable to me. I'll pull the panel and have a look see. Thanks again for your input.
