85 380 SL ignition Control Unit
I have a ignition problem, I changed my water pump and removed my distributor and replaced it, but know I get no spark to the coil or plugs. Is there a way to check th ignition control unit. And does the timing sensor do any thing or is it get there to check the dwell setting?

Is the green wire hooked up to the distributor and to the ignition box (the box has no sophistication like a "map" or anything it isn't really a "controller", it has no vacuum input)?
Even if it is, the connector on the wire at the distributor gets extremely brittle and disintegrates, and it is made of unobtainium. The replacement costs upward of $70. You should be able to see some sort of a jump at the coaxial connector on a voltmeter as the engine is cranked. If you don't, it is probably bad. The timing sensor (the front sensor at the harmonic balancer) is used for diagnostics only and has no operational function.
