The pickup sensor on the front of the engine near the pulley is not the crankshaft sensor. The crankshaft sensor is at the rear of the engine near the bell housing.

Sensor

Now I am confused the sensor at the front sits on the bracket above the crankshaft pulley were you check the timeing , thier is a a peg on the pulley which looks as though that controlls the sensor .

I have looked all over the gear box bell houseing can't find any sensor , I don't think it's for the lamba 02 sensor whould this not have 4 wires not 1.

Thanks for your reply

Sensor

Hi I have attached 2 photos

1 . The cable with the rubber connecter is the cable by the side of the oil filter , going down by the bulkhead it's s single cable with a spark plug type connecter.
You can see nothing was marked , the mechanic was very old school with years of experience.

I latterly got involved with cleaning parts and help on reassembly .
