has anybody done this via the engine compartment (my battery is locked in trunk) at the cable junction on the left side. can you damage the altenator, etc?

on the passenger side under hood there is a small box with a plastic cover marked X (positive) put your red positive jumper cable under the cover on the screw (bolt) and your negative on the engine block on lifting ear ( used to lift engine) or other engine ground, you should be able to recharge from charger this way if battery is still good, youll be able to turn over! good luck, Aabe G
