accident :(

Last night I got cutt off badly and ended up hitting the median. The front fender hood and bumper ripped off the vehicle basically. Do you think it would result in a write off?
also since my car is a 1991 SL500 is it a good idea to change the bumper to the newer model style?

I don't think the damage will be a write off. You cannot just upgrade the front bumper to a newer model, you have to do the side and rear. They all got a facelift after 1995. The side vents went from three slots to two, the rear bumber of the facelift cars are more rounded.

Good luck with your decision, and sorry to hear about your mishap.

Ouch! Sorry to hear it.

I'd keep the car stock.

Hopefully the damage will not be too expensive. Some idiot in a lorry ripped off my front wing and bumper; it was a relatively painless fix. Good luck.

Thought I'd add my misery too.

Had to park in a car park (all my normal spots gone) as I took my Mrs shopping for her birthday. Now if that wasn't bad enough I had to start the day knowing that I'd just scraped my front bumper on a wall trying to park!!!!!

She says - 'why don't you move over, as that car next to you is a little close. There's plenty of room over this side'!!! ARRRRRGH.

Well, to be fair I was driving and I should have seen how that wall was so slightly angled.

She (the car) was booked in with my bodyshop before the time it took to walk out of the park :-)

If it's a repair, shop around: not all bodyshops are the same! Your insurer cannot fetter your right to choose who repairs the car. In my experience the best bodyshops have Porsche approval; I have to say I am unimpressed by those recommended by MB.

Not only did I scratch my front bumper, now some 'kind' person has 'hit and run' my rear bumper - no major damage just more scrapes!

So it's now a good time to colour code all-round - including the wind mirrors. She's booked in for this Monday maybe I'll post the before and after pics - see if I can temp any of you 'two tone' types??....
