Cruise amp part number for a 1979 300TD
I was just wondering if anyone knew the part number for the cruise amplifier in a 1979 300TD.
Thanks, Kevin |

This is the one. It is used from 1972 to 1981 on nearly all chassis.

Thanks for the info. I have found one on ebay that is out of a 1978 300D. The part number on it is 001 545 21 32. Will this one work on my 1979 300TD?
Thanks, Kevin |

Yes. The same amplifier is used in both cars.

I just pulled the one out of the car and the part number on it is 005 545 12 32. Are all these part numbers interchangeable. Did Mercedes simply change the part number based on the model and year of the car, but in actuality it is still the same part????? I pulled the board out of the housing and it looks good, is it still possible that heating each solder joint with a soldering iron will fix my problem. The only problem with it now is that when you set the cruise it just keeps accelerating. Is there anything else that woudl cause this other than the amplifier.
Thanks again, Kevin |

Yes, they are interchangeable. I have checked several part lists including reman and aftermarket lists and the same amplifier is in both cars you mentioned as well as the range of years in my prior post.
In fact, you could take another step to verify - check the parts here in FastLane. Type in each car and check the part recommended in the online catalog. They should be the same for both. The part number will likely be the FastLane part number rather than the OEM part number(s), but this will give you some level of comfort about interchangeability. Sorry that I can't advise on the actual part function or failure mode. Not my area of expertise. |

I just checked the FastLane catalog to verify. They call it part number P5002-49608. It is the same for both vehicles (78 300D and 79 300TD).
Look under "body electrical" then find "cruise control amplifier." |
