Is here a simple way to display/read faults/codes on my 89 300 sel without going to the dealer?

quote: There should be a small black box on the rt side of the engine compartment with a cover on it. Remove the cover and there should be several pin connections with numbers on them. There should also be a small button. If the button is deprssed for 3 sec then released this should make a red light flash out the codes that are either current or stored for the injection system.
