I have decided to buy the 300d listed in the swap shop. My question is about the inoperative a/c. Back in 95' the major components of the a/c were replaced. The compressor, expansion valve,drier,a/c manifold, drier temp. switch and drier pressure switch. I assume all gaskets were replaced or am I wrong? Which items should be checked first for fixing the a/c? This was all done 5 yrs ago so it is not brand new. Only 47k have been put on the car since so it probably was not used much. Anybody have suggestions. This car is so nice and the a/c is the only thing keeping it from being 99% perfect! Thanks!

I struggled with this one. My best professional opinion is that its broke! The next step is not a crystal ball! If you want an answer it needs to be diagnosed. I believe that proper diagnostic techniques should be applied. The whole field of A/C diagnostics are probably beyond the scope of a single post.

My advise is to have an A/C specialist or MB specialist have a look at it. It will cost money.

Thanks Steve! The owner told me that he had it recharged in May, but it all leaked out by June. His mechanic told him there is some kind of conversion kit to the 134 for a reasonable price. He thinks around $600.

One other thing is the side to side rocking the car does after a freeway run! Thank God the car does not have cup holders or their would be a big mess! I will do a search on this one. However an opinion is always welcome! Thanks again. Joe
