My '90 300SE had a slight miss at idle. I replaced plugs, air filter, no change. I found the coil wire touching the intake manifold and it had a heat mark on it. I took a wire tie and corrected this.
That seems to have taken care of the problem. I saw a post recently of someone asking the same question. I can't find that post, but maybe he will see this and give it a try. Mr. BILL 90 300SE 85 300D 84 300SD (sold) |
I had this problem and I still get it sometimes, thanks for the info!!
As a complete novice, how would I locate these wires? Thanks, and sorry for being stupid!! Oliver |
The coil wire runs from a little black plastic cover about as big as your fist located near the right (drivers) wheel well. The wire, (look at your plug wires coming out of the valve cover for size and color), runs to the distributor (that black cover at the front of the valve cover). Trace the wire and see if it's touching anything really hot.
yhis may or may not have any effect. Mr. BILL [This message has been edited by Mr. BILL (edited 11-01-2000).] |
