No Heat -1978 300CD
I am putting a 1978 300CD back on the road. Right now I need to get hot water to the heater core. I thought all I needed to do was referb the monovalve - unfortunatly this car doesn't use that device. Instead MB uses a regulating valve and heating water pump. I would appreciate any data relevant to these parts. Troubleshooting info would be most helpful. I have MB service CD's - they are of little help. Specifically a part no. and vendor for the bi-metal temperature switch that sits under the heating water pump would be great. Any experiance getting this nightmare going again would be fantastic.

A part you might be interested in learning a bit about is the Autmatic Climate Control Servo (ACC Servo). It's a part you'll probably replace every 3-4 years and if you don't pull it out of a junkyard car, it will cost you about $700-$1000. If memory is serving me (I've been working my my 88 560SEL too much and my 78 300CD has been well behaved lately so no need for anything other than oil changes) this part is what diverts coolant to the heater core when heat is demanded from the Climate Control System.
Good luck with your 300CD. I love mine and it's neat, although too rare to see another on the road! Scott |

I just bypassed my ac servo for about $20, and it works good, I just need to work out some minor bugs with the vacuum and electrical system...
