Shock Absorber Comparison

on the 88 420 i've put H&R sport springs on it. as of right now it has the original oem shocks on it. as i'm looking around thinking about the shocks i would like to get a comparison on the different levels and brands.

here are the shocks i'm considering so far:

** oem stock boge
** oem stock bilstiens
** comfort ride bilstiens
** hard ride bilstiens

hope i got the hard ride nomenclature correct.

i'm not looking for good better best. i'm looking at the comparable ride values. i want the best handling i can get without loosing too much of the comfy ride. i'm going with 235 x 40's and i'm told the shorter side wall is going to add to the harshness of the ride. so i'm looking not to make this thing a race car just a good handling car that is a bit lower.
tks much

Since you're using the H&R Sport springs ( shorter than stock ), I would strongly recommend using the Bilstein Sport shocks.
They have a shorter shaft ( to maintain the same stroke length ), are recommended for drops of 1" or more, & I do not find them hard at all ( just nice & " controlled ").
My second last set of tires were Michelin Pilot Sport A/S ( 215/55/16 ), with a relatively " firm " ride.
My new set are Michelin Pilot Sport PS 2 ( 225/45/17 )and, believe it or not, they ride smoother than My Continental ( 195/65/15 ) winter tires.
