1993 300E 3.2 dash lights

Does any one know if their is a relay or another electronic item that could cause for all the dash lights to not work, the complete dash is dark, air vents regulators gauges you name it.

Thanks.

That, and also the illumination relay behind the instrument cluster.

there's also a little red fuse that screws into the back of the cluster (at least on earlier 300E's) that controls illumination. It looks exactly like the sockets that hold the little warning light bulbs except it is red.

I have played with the dimmer and the lights are still off. I'm in the dark as my wife tells me. :p

The fuses are all good, moved them around a 1/2 turn to make sure the contact was good as well.

Have you looked at the dimmer to see if the contact bridges are still intact? It's not uncommon for them to burn out (looks like a burnt fuse when they do). If that checks out OK, I would suspect the illumination relay behind the instrument cluster.

Yes, you need to remove the instrument cluster. Do a search, and you'll find that it's a very straightforward and quick procedure.
