My 240D won't always downshift from 4th to 3rd when I put my foot to the floor (passing gear...if you can use that term with a 240D).
When I stop, it downshifts to 1st. The shift from 1st to 2nd is firm but not harsh, 2 to 3 is good, and 3 to 4 has a little flair, but not much if I'm steady on the throttle. I've sort of gotten used to it and I downshift manually when I need it...but sure would be nice to get it repaired. It's been like this for 4 or 5 years. I've checked the vacuum lines, and all look good. I want to put a vacuum guage on the line going to the tranny. Does anyone know what readings I should see at different throttle positions. It looks like the vacuum valve on the injection pump bleeds off vacuum more and more as you give it more throttle, or at least I believe that's the theory. Or should I just change the modulator on the tranny, or maybe adjust it. Would adjusting it help it to downshift?? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks Joe Thanks Joe |
