Vito Custom - engine Swap ?

Hello all,

As my Vito 113 Petrol M111 Engine is tapping and "whirring" away. Its going to need some major "spanner waiving".

what are the prospects for an engine change in this vehicle, it has LPG plumbed in too, and the running costs are not a concern. Can the cosworth Motors be used in transverse configurations? Also does the VW VR6 engine bolt into these chassis (I heard a rumour). What about a bigger displacement M111, or even a supercharger unit?

I have about £1500 to spend on this project so finding a good used power plant should be within budget.

Many thanks for thoughts, offers, and suggestions.

Eurovan with the engine in the back.

Fantastic video of the van, ERO 80,000 is a little out of my range tho.

Anyhow, I was looking at if the 2.3Ltr M111 Engine fron an inline configuration can be bolted it mainly onto my existing gearbox, as I presume its the same casting for the block. I can then use my existing ancillaries.

I like the idea of transplanting a VR6 2.8 Motor into my Panel van, but I can find no information of it it is in fact the VW engine mounted into the V-280.

If anyone knows where there is a good M111 Engine fro a VITO this would also be a huge help.

I think he said

535 ps (horsepower)

675 NM (torque)

hochgeschwindigkeit 273 kmh (top speed)

188,000 dollars was the price! he says under his breath "hundert" achtundachtzig tausend...

See we dont have any Vitos in the US, they are pretty cool though. I sat in a few when I was in germany.

You know how mercedes has engines that are the same block, but more displacement, maybe you want to try that. I am not familiar with your engine. Like say you had a 380SL, you could put in a 560 SL motor because they have the same relative dimensions (about).

Best of luck with your project!
