Where do I find my engine number.?

This morning I called the closest Mercedes Dealer to see if they had in stock a Crank sensor for a 1999 ML320.

He said there are two. Then asked for my engine number. I dont know it.

I learned on this sight the chassis number is in the VIN. Where's the engine number ?

Thanks

The dealer should be able to find the exact part you need from your VIN.

Agree, the dealer should have it. Sometime when you are in the dealership go up to a service rep and ask them if they will print out a VMI for your car. They will need your VIN. The VMI, or Vehicle Master Inquiry, will have all kinds of good info on your car including the engine number.

So the answer is ..I can not find my engine number.

It is held by the Dealer.

I wish they would stamp the blocks.

Actually no its on the block. I forget exactly where. I believe its on the passenger side. I remember trying to get mine of the block when I was ordering parts for a rebuild from Europe. If I can just find the email pointing me to the correct place......
Its on there...
