wiring up hitch for 300tdt
I've got a salvaged MB hitch for my 300tdt that I am going to install very soon. after that I would like to try to wire the harness myself but electrical work is not my specialty.
anyone have any pointers as to where I should splice in for blinkers, tailights and breaks? any help is greatly appreciated. |

I assume you mean you have a 300TD Turbo? This would be the "Touring" or "Estate Wagon". If I am correct, aside from getting either/both CD and printed manuals, the location of the wires you are looking for would be inside of the right & left rear panels. The left one should house your spare tire and sunroof motor/relay while the right would house rear washer bottle & emergency kit. On my '87 300TD this is where I have gone into the wires you seek. If someone has seen a factory hookup that is different they may correct me . . .

Yes, I've got an 85 touring wagon. My understanding is that there are some significant differences between the pre- and post-85 300 models, I don't know if this would include wiring as well.
the R & L rear panels would make sense, thanks for the tip. I do have an electronic manual which I will look into but it seems to be incomplete. after checking on the wiring diagrams for another recent wiring project they seemed to be incomplete. I also have a Hayne's manual but for some reason the 85 300td diagrams are nowhere to be found! |
