city light bulb-u.s.part number FOUND

good day all

i was at advance auto today and found some "t4w"bulbs with a
u.s.part number.

i want to share this with everyone.

sylvania part #3893 [t4w] they were about $ 2.00 so i picked up a pair.

these are now used a lot for some daytime running lights.

ummm I dunno what city lights those fit, but my euros take a 194 bulb. Which slides into the city light bulb holder, and is more flat on the connection end.

I believe there are two types of city light bulbs. There is the metal base one (same as above with the traditional connector) and there is the glass base one (with a flat connector). T4W and W5W respectively.

W123 eurolight

My W123 EURO lights take the sylvania part #3893 [t4w]

They are probabaly more used in the older cars.

what are the part numbers for the city light bulb holder for model years 94-95? I want to install them in my housings. I am assuming I can only get them from the dealer.

no idea what the city light bulb HOLDER/socket part number is...have you called phil @ parts shop or some other mb parts guy?

as funny as u.s. dealers are about euro stuff, i bet they say it isn't available.

you may find a non-usa member who can/would help

you may be able to get the h6w bulb-holder/socket part from a w210 marker/parking light. it may be too large for a w124

what exactly are you trying to do, put city lights in late u.s. lights?

btw the knock-off euro's, depo take a #194 bulb

Exactly.

I've got a 94 E420 and have come to find out that the headlight internals are the same for both DOT and ECE spec units. The only difference being the glass lens. By replacing the lens with the ECE version I will have ECE headlights so to speak......in other words there wouldn’t be any difference between the two. The only things I'll be missing are city lights; which I want because currently I drive with my fogs on all the time acting as “DRLs”. Since I am going to be putting in high wattage bulbs, I don’t want to be killing them left and right. So now I’ve got to find a source for the city lamps.

I know a lot of W140s had city lights, as did the earlier C-classes ....any idea if these would work?

Lightbulb

Just to stir the pot a bit more, I use a 5-watt halogen bulb in my city lights. Part number 64111 - I think this also works in the dome light and trunk light.
