Temp outside 23c-28c.
Coolant mix 70w/30coolant,all fans work.
Thermostat maybe?
I done a search and some say that it's normal and others say it's not.
What do you think?

Does your top radiator hose get warm/hot when the gauge says <70DegC? Does the mechanical engine fan "lock up"? My prefered way of checking the fan function is too start the car dead cold and take it straight to 2000rpm. The engine fan should be quite loud for 10-20seconds and then sound as if it is slowing down. If it does this then it should still have enough silicon fluid in the clutch.

As long as it doesn't go far above 100DegC when idling (and the Aux fans are working) and comes back down to 80-85C when cruising then that's ok. Just make sure your cooling system doesn't leak (especially the radiator car) because then you'll be boiling off alot of coolant sitting at 100DegC.

Ausmbtech,i'll check the top radiator hose 2morow.
I will use your theory to check the mechanical engine fan too and get back to you with some answers.
The cooling system is fine, no leaks and the temp goes back to 85 -90 when cruising but slow driving or in traffic it goes up to 105 till the fan comes on then it comes back to 100C.
Aux fans are the ones infront of the ac condensor, right?
thanx.

I used your theory and it did as you said it would so I guess it's ok.I will keep an eye on it.
Thanx for your help.
I'm thinking of getting a C36 AMG,what do you think of them?Is there much difference,performance-interior,compared to my 24v?

Well your 124 24V vs a W202 C36 is a big difference. The C36 is a different chassis, it's smaller in the boot and rear seat, more fetures, newer design, more power. I have heard whispers that the C36 has a piston or camshaft weakness, you'll have to talk to some owners to get more info.

If you want to move to a W202 then a C43 would be a better option as the 113 engine is very reliable and doesn't experience oil leaks like a 104 engine. I guess it depends on your budget.

I worked on a really nice silver C43 wagon last week.........take the badges off, take the chrome exhuast tips off and throw some hubcaps on it and you'd have yourself a real sleeper!
