Where to get ECU cheaper?

Hi all,

I had replaced the engine wiring harness on my '93 300E 2.8L a few weeks ago, but still had rough running problems. After lots of testing in my garage and then taking it in to the shop, I've determined that cylinder no. 4 is not firing because the injector is not getting any signal from the wiring (and hence injecting no fuel). The Mercedes shop I took it to confirmed this; they tested the wiring harness (which turned out to be fine), and found that there is no signal coming out of the ECU for fuel injector 4. They said the old harness must have short circuited and fried the ECU.

My local Mercedes dealer wants over $1500 for a new ECU . Does anyone know of any other source of used or remanufactured ECUs, or at least a lower price for a new one? I've been unsuccessful in locating one from salvage yards locally or on ebay.

There are two part numbers on the ECU: 0 261 200 400 and 013 545 13 32 [02]. I think the first one is the Bosch part number and the second is the Mercedes part number. The dealer gave me the following number after looking up the part by my car's VIN: 019 545 9732. They said this is a new part number that replaced the old one. Are there any other part numbers that may refer to the ECU?

have you tried beckman electronics. they seem to do a fair amount of refurbished electronics for mercs, though i dont know if they do ecu's.
