Is anyone in the Austin Tx. area familiar with an independent MB shop called Bens Work Shop on Pressler St? I'm primarily concerned with knowledge/honesty. Price isn't an issue. Good never comes cheap. Thanks for your time.

I used Ben last year for my 90K service. I was pleased and would recommend Ben to anyone. Coincidentily, I took my 500E to the dealer for my timing chain replacement, throttle body actuator, and wiring harness replacement ($$$ - wife does not know the amount yet !!) . Although I am confident that the technician will do an excellent job, I'd rate the customer service POOR...
Ben's has excellent customer service and a great group of technicians that have been together for years. |
Mike,
I have not used Ben's but I know several peolpe who have and their opinion is less than favorable. I use German Auto Center. They have always been great both in service and customer service. They don't gouge you either. I took my 300D to them making a terrible racket. I was prepared for the worst. They found the drift key had fallen out of the alternator. It only cost me one hour labor. I beleive anyone else would have replaced the alternator. Another time, the 300D just quit running. they arranged for a wrecker to rescue my wife and get her to work. They checked it out thouroughly and it turned out she ran it out of fuel. They only charged me $5.00. If you are interested, search under "Good Shops" ref Austin TX. I posted the address and phone # there. O.K. the phone # is, 512-452-6437, ask for Clay. Tell him Bill Ford sent you. Good luck! Mr. BILL 90 300SE 85 300D 84 300SD (sold) |
