On my 300 my 3rd brake light above the back seat went out and I cannot figure out how to get to it without breaking it.

It seams like it snaps on and off, but not sure. I took a screwdriver and tried to pry it off gingerly, but no luck. I also tried to pull the whole thing off, but not luck.

Does anyone know how to replace the bulb on this?

Thanks and Happy T-giving!

Matt,
The back of the housing pops off. On each side of the housing, you will see plastic extension clips protuding, aimed to the rear. Gently lift up on these clips on at a time and pull back on the rear of the housing. It should pop free. Be careful, the plastic is old and brittle.

No matter what you fix, there will always be something else to fix..
"Warranty" is just another way of postponing the inevitable.

Thanks. I am a little confused. Do you pop off the whole light assembly or just the plastic covering while leaving the other part of the assembly put?

The plastic piece seems like it does not want to budge.

The rear (toward the front of the car) plastic piece is what comes off. It has a reflector inside and covers the bulb. Be careful. It is easy to break the tabs on the side.

One more tip. Don't do it during a cold day. The plastic will break. The heat may help you but, be very carefull...

Pop off the back cover not, whole assembly. The bulb is uusually not located at the auto parts store. Though, you may be able to put in a different bulb.
