E class stuck wiper

Can anyone give me any advice on how to unstick the wiper mount on my E320? I put a new wiper blade in it this morning and had to raise the arm up until it locked into position so the blade could be released. The arm appears to be stuck up now. Is there anything I should be pressing to release the arm again or has it just got stuck in the up position?

Any suggestions appreciated as it's raining pretty hard here!!

Just push it back down,,,, there is no special release mechanism.

Am I likely to break anything if I force it? I've tried pushing it down using a bit of brute force but no good.

it needs a fair bit of brute force- to the point where you feel like you're gonna break it.

You should also be able to just turn on the wiper and then shut it off. The wiper should fall back into place.

I'd agree that brute force is required, be sure to protect the windshield though, use an old blanket or towels.
