1993 300E cruise control actuator location

Where will I find the CC actuator. I know it's in the engine compartment but where?

Thanks in advance

Your 1993 300E has either the 2.8 or 3.2 liter M104 engine.

There is no cruise control actuator. The cruise control function is part of the throttle actuator, which sits underneath the intake manifold.

There is another part that seems to affect cruise control function. I think it's the brake stop switch.

If you experiement with the search function, there is info in the archives.

Directly below the AMM.

AMM???

As you can see I'm not Mr. Goodwrench. :D

Aie Mass Meter. It should be located between the air filter and the throttle body. It measures how much air is going in the engine. It will have a connector on the side of it probably. However, there seems to be some disagreement about whether you have a cruise control actuator or not. I don't know.

I checked on Parts Shop, and there are two parts listed: cruise control amplifier and cruise control switch.

I've never heard of either part failing on an M104 engine, but that's just from reading posts on this forum.

Whenever the cruise control fails on an M104 engine, 100% of the time the problem is either due to a faulty throttle actuator (EA / ISC / CC module) or due to a faulty brake stop switch.

I have the 300E 4-Matic and it is supposed to have both the cc amplifier and the cc actuator.

That's different. You didn't say 4matic the first time.

The 1993 300E 4matic has the 3.0 liter m103 engine. It will have a cruise actuator, as the m103 does not use the electronic drive-by-wire throttle like the m104. I don't know the m103 engine, so can't describe the cruise actuator to you. It should be simple to locate. Find the throttle cable under the hood, follow it to the end. That's the throttle body. The cruise actuator is going to be some type of mechanical linkage which moves the throttle body. Typically it's a short metal rod which connects back to a silver box about the size of a pack of cigarettes. The silver box is the cruise actuator.

Regular 1993 300E's have the 3.2 liter M104 engine.

I wonder why 1993 300E 4-Matics have the 3.0 liter M103 engine...?
