This so called called MB bible on the 300E by Bently Publishers. Has anyone had any opinion on it to share. Is it worth purchasing for repair help and guidance on the MB's. Thnx, Rebe

It's a pretty good book, more like an extended owner's manual with a few extra maintenance items shown. There's some handy hints and info, and some of the more routine repair procedures are explained.
If you want more detail get a Haynes 124 repair manual: -http://www.haynes.co.uk (they ship to the US) or the service cd's.

It isn't really a repair guide - Haynes manual is better for that - it's also available at 303-237-0911.

The Bentley book is a good coffee table appointment or something in place of a newspaper when its that time of day.

I've got no experience with the Haynes manual.

I use, with satisfaction, the 124 CD and use it in conjunction with Steve Nervig's maintenance manual index

Basically all of the key chassis, Nervig and other owners took the CDs and created an online index for them, so that the CDs can be navigated much easier by topic area. You can get down to individual job sheets rather than having to wade through the normal MB CD BS. No copyrighted info is on the site, just a listing of the headings and subheads of the CD organization.

Where do you get the cd's at? I am not sure!

I found the 124 bible to be a wonderful education on the evolution of the 124's prodution run, and worth buying, but it is not, and should not be confused with being a service repair manual!

There are several on-line distributors, including FastLane, that offer 124 service repair manuals in CD form, priced anywhere from $24. to $150.

I could be wrong, but in my opinion, the $24 and $150 CD's have no differences, and are exactly the same, except price! BB

I always thought the $24 version was the bootleg and the $150 was the lawful version - don't really know though.

I think I paid $12 for mine off ebay. The CD's are good if you already have a fair understanding of these cars, but I found my Haynes to be more handy for toilet reading/when I was actually out working on the car.
