RF remote keyless entry for W140, JimF?
Has anyone piggy-backed an RF remote keyless entry system to a W140 IR RKE system? Seems like it's a matter of tapping into the right wires but that might upset the alarm. Does anyone have a wiring diagram to share (I have an alldata subscription but I can't follow the wiring diagram through separate pages)?
Thanks, Sixto 95 S420 87 300SDL |

Really? In my experience. . .
with my '94, it opens (or closes) 10 - 12 ft away. Maybe you need new batteries?
No, to answer your question, I not tried what you propose but have story that applicable to what you want to do. When the Berg Werks 1st Gear Control Module (FGCM) was installed (documented in MENU #23), an ancillary function call the 'security mode' was also installed. Briefly, this automatically locks the doors at a chosen speed, say 10mph. The speed is programmable. Very nice feature. But it didn't allow the car's lock/release feature to un-lock the doors! That is, you couldn't press the lock/release button on the control panel to open the doors. Of course, any particular door could be opened manually by use of the door latch from inside. But the other doors would still be locked. The only way to open the other doors was to use your key in the door. I believe, if I remember correctly, that the FGCM used a transistor that was wired in "open collector" configuration and when the car is stopped, the transistor's clamping operation is automatically released. However the car wouldn't respond until you manually un-locked the car. In Menu #23, it shows how I disabled the feature. I just visited their site and it says "Security Mode is not available for W140 chassis cars. That sums it up nicely. So you may or may not have similar problems. |
