Help please w124 230e Headlights stuck on high

People i need urgent help, i am currently on a road trip and last night after driving a long time on high beam i wanted to dim the lights for oncomming traffic and the lights was stuck on high. Makes no diffrewnce in what position the stick on steering colum is if on low beam the high beams are still on with the high beam indicator on in the dash.

turn signals and wiper operation is normal

Could it be a stuck relay, and if so where is the relay??

Please this is dangerous

Power flow starts with headlight switch, goes to combination switch, & from there to fuses, & from there to lamp module, & then to lights.

What happens if you remove those fuses?

Crank the headlight alignment down to stop annoying other drivers.

This will get you home.

Your problem is most likely a bad combination switch.

I second the switch is bad, the headlight relay behind the screwed down portion of the fuse box fails to the off position with light not the on condition.

M.B Doc

Thank you MB Doc, if i remove the high beam fuses, then the high beams goes off, if i replace them both low and high beams comes on at the same time, makes no matter where the selector is, high stays on.

Do you think it could be the lights module in the screw down section??

And to the other contributors thankyou, i have have removed the high beam fuses, now i have just low beams will get me home, but i have to get this sorted.

so iam i correct in saying that if the high beams stays on it is a bad combination swich (the on on the side of the steering), if it where a bad module then the high beams would not come on at all?

Your conclusion is the most likely condition.
