do u think so is the waterpump noisy??? My 87 MB 190E 2.3 8V is very noisy before waterpump changed. At that time, i also think the belt and belt tensioner problem. After changed belt and belt tensioner, still had that problem. Ended up, change waterpump and quiet.

Yea, the water pumps on the 190e makes a hell of a racket when the bearing are getting ready to go. More racket than most I have heard. If you can't get it changed right away, make sure you loosen your belt tension as much as possible so you don't hasten the death of the water pump by over stressing the bearings.

Yep water pump makes a hell of a racket in the M102 when bad. I thought it was my timing chain until it got bad enough that it started leaking. Sucks really but not a bad job to do on your own if you are handy with a wrench... I had mine out and back in within an hour and a half.

Anything that varies the drive load on the belt will make the tensioner "jump" -- it's a rubber "spring", so any accessory (or a bad belt, for that matter) will make noise and vibration.

A bad belt can sound just like a rod knock.
